Matt Stieger came up trumps at The Jack in 2016. Matt won the title after shooting 69 both days and coming in at 4 under across the 36 hole tournament. A tight finish with Jack Higginbottom leading on 4 under after the first days play and only one stroke in it with Jake taking the shoot of the tournament and finishing 3 under.

Matt was the first male to take out the overall title in 3 years with Polly Goldman and Rebecca Artis winning in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Matt joking mentioned that it may have been the blonde wig he wore for the final 18 holes that got him across the line.

This was the fifth start at The Jack for the 25 year old pro, who just narrowly missed qualifying for the Japan Tour just two weeks ago. Stieger , originally from Narrabri but now has based in Sydney , said winning the title and the $10,000 I prize money was a great start to the Christmas break. Fitting, given that the event has become the unofficial Christmas party for pros and celebrity golfers and one of the most sort after invites of the year.
